What an incredible day! Thank you so much to everybody who attended and all of the incredible people who made it happen.
First of all, our wonderful event partners, Tolbooth Stirling who not only hosted the event, but made sure that everything was set up and running smoothly for all of our fantastic presenters and performers. The kitchen even whipped up some delicious Ukrainian Borscht!
Next, our presenters! Our very own Yuliia spoke on Ukrainian culture and traditions, focussing especially on Ivana Kupala which starts tomorrow. Katalin and Katerina from Wild Flower Studio taught attendees how to make flower crowns in preparation for the festivities.
After, we were treated to Iranian songs from Aref Ghorbani who wowed the crowd with his singing and setar playing.
Karina, the artistic director and conductor for Edinburgh Ukrainian Choir «Oberih», then took to the stage, with people clapping along to her upbeat songs and beautiful voice.
To finish up the event, we had the lovely Hadia, Roqea and Roshan speak about Afghan culture. They then showed women how they wrap their head scarves and set up a very popular henna station!
It was wonderful to see so many people attend and take part. Thank you for celebrating Refugee Week with us.
